Electronic paper is a display technology designed to mimic the appearance of ordinary ink on paper. It works by reflecting ambient light just like regular paper so it displays images and text without needing a power hungry backlight. This makes it incredibly easy on the eyes and perfectly readable, even in direct sunlight.
With its natural, paper like appearance and ultra-low power consumption, ePaper brings digital content to life in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
At the heart of ePaper is a technology called electrophoretic display. Each screen is made up of millions of tiny microcapsules filled with positively charged white particles and negatively charged black particles suspended in a clear fluid.
When a small electric charge is applied, these particles move to the surface — creating black or white areas that form text and images. Once the image is in place, it stays there without using any power, making ePaper both energy-efficient and ideal for always-on displays.
Color display technology takes the ePaper concept a step further by introducing colored pigments. Each microcapsule contains six types of particles: white, black, red, green, blue, and yellow.
By applying small electric charges, the display controls which colors move to the surface, creating bright, detailed images that use very little power. The result is vibrant, full-color visuals with the same paper-like look and energy efficiency that ePaper is known for.
